BFM borrowing service (Polo Biologico & Polo San Luigi)

Starting from 22th June 2020, BFM makes available the following services to its patrons:

  • book borrowing/returning (by reservation only);
  • on-demand transmission of scanned bibliographic materials not available for borrowing (within the 15% threshold for each required work).

Services are delivered at Polo Biologico and Polo San Luigi library sites.

 

Starting from September 2020 borrowing/returning service is delivered:

  • at POLO BIOLOGICO: 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday;
  • at POLO SAN LUIGI: 9:00-16:00 from Monday to Friday.

 

On-demand transmission of scanned bibliographic materials is suspended due to the reopening of the reading rooms.

TO BORROW BOOKS

Borrowing service is delivered on a pre-booked basis only, and only for books located at Polo Biologico or Polo San Luigi in the UniTO catalogue (books at other BFM sites are still not accessible at the moment). The loan period is 7 days (up to 3 books - no renewals allowed). Requests are processed in order of arrival.

 

  1. Check the Catalogo UniTO: if the book you are looking for is located at Polo Biologico or Polo San Luigi, make a borrowing request from the Catalogue. You will receive a confirmation on your UniTO email box.
  1. Book a day and a time slot to pick-up the borrowed book(s) by filling in: 

      - this form for Polo Biologico

      - this form for Polo San Luigi

 

  1. Wait for a confirmation email on your UniTO email box.
  2. On the day and at the time reported on your pick-up reservation go:

      - to Polo Biologico: main entrance in corso Raffaello 30, Torino

      - to Polo San Luigi: external entrance of the Palazzina Biologica – Dipartimento di Scienze Cliniche e Biologiche (N.B.: please do not access the Hospital through its main entrance, but follow the yellow signposts for “Dipartimento of Scienze Cliniche e Biologiche” inside the Hospital park).

      Bring with you a copy of your pick-up reservation (in print or on your smartphone), and an identity document. Please be punctual!

 

  1. Get your temperature checked, and fill in the print or QR code registry for contact tracing at the entrances listed above.
  2. Go to the library, and show your reservation to the staff. Pick up the book(s) at the borrowing desk. You will have to wear a face mask and use the provided hand sanitizer. 

 

You can delegate someone else to pick up the book(s). He/she shall present your pick-up reservation and a written proxy statement together with a copy of your identity document.

TO RETURN BOOKS

Books are returnable on a pre-booked basis only. You can return to Polo Biologico or Polo San Luigi also the books borrowed at the other BFM sites before the lockdown.

 

  1. Book a day and a time slot to return the book(s) by filling in: 

       - this form for Polo Biologico

       - this form for Polo San Luigi

 

  1. Wait for a confirmation email on your UniTO email box.
  2. On the day and at the time reported on your return reservation go:

      - to Polo Biologico: main entrance in corso Raffaello 30, Torino

If you live outside the province of Turin, you can also send the book(s) by mail or courier with postage-fees paid by the sender to this address: Polo Biologico - Biblioteca Federata di Medicina "F. Rossi", corso Raffaello 30, 10125 Torino.

 

The returned book(s) will be quarantined for 9 days (according to Istituto Centrale per la Patologia degli Archivi e del Libro guidelines) before being borrowable again.
